1 in 10 sexters have sent sexts to the wrong person
If you’ve ever tried to cheer your partner up at work by sending him/her a photo of your private parts dressed like Groucho Marx, and instead you accidentally forwarded it to your parents and/or siblings and/or coworkers and/or the rabbi that presided over your bat mitzvah, take heart, grasshopper, for you are not alone. According to a recent study by the U.K.-based mobile news site Recombu, 11 percent of sexters have accidentally sent their naughty photos to the wrong recipient. In other words, if you lined up 10 sexters all in a row, chances are that one of them has a close friend or business associate who knows what the insides of their reproductive organs looks like (chances are also good that all ten of these people are stupid, because as the now-defunct revenge porn site Is Anyone Up? has taught us by now, sexting is exclusively for idiots and scarily well-hung metalcore bassists).
Check out our blog on the do’s and donts 🙂 The study also concluded a number of other interesting little factoids about U.K.-based mobile users. Like, for instance, such as: almost half (47 percent) of the 2,000 people polled in the study admit to having sent dirty texts to their significant other (I can only assume that this is because these people don’t watch Law and Order: SVU, which mentions sexting so much that it makes it seem like the single biggest scourge to hit Manhattan since breakdancing buskers on the 6 train). The study also concluded that while women tend to send more sexts than men, with 48 percent of admitted female sexters as opposed to 45 percent of males, men are also twice as likely to accidentally send a sext to someone other than the intended recipient. In the same vein, 25 percent of men have sexted someone they weren’t dating, as opposed to only 16 percent of women.
So congratulations, ladies! When it comes to the battle of the sexes over dumbass texting behavior, I guess we win this round. Let’s celebrate by Instagramming photos of our boobies to our loved ones.
